The Jumbo Guitar

When I decided to build an acoustic guitar, I thought I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted it to sound like. I wanted a deep rich base tone you could feel in your chest, but one that didn’t sacrifice or drown out the trebles. I tried out plenty of guitars at the Different Strummer, our school store, and realized the Jumbo guitars fit me well, and had the sound I was looking for. That, and something made with Rosewood.

The Kit its self is an East Indian Rosewood back and sides, Spruce top, Mahogany neck with a Rosewood head plate, ebony fingerboard and bridge, and bone saddles and nut. It had a basic rosette and binding set, MOP fingerboard dots, and chrome tuners. I switched the color pattern on the binding because I wanted black on the outside.

The sides came pre-bent, the neck mostly machined, the heel and neck blocks completed, and the rosette already inlaid. The rest was up to me.
